RESIDENT IN COUNSELING
Therapist
Hello! My name is Naomi Brewington. I graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Psychology and a minor in Neurostudies at Longwood University and obtained my Masters of Science in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling at Virginia Commonwealth University. I am a Resident in Counseling, a Nationally Certified Counselor, and am working towards LPC licensure and Registered Play Therapist credentials.
I have experience working with adolescents, women, and children struggling with recovery, anxiety, depression, interpersonal relationships, life-transitions, low self-esteem, anger management, occupational difficulties, and personality disorders. Additionally, my background includes working in a variety of treatment settings such as community-based group homes, residential treatment facilities for dual diagnosis and mental health disorders, and Intensive Outpatient services.
My approach to therapy is Person-Centered and incorporates a range of elements from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and Strengths-based approaches. I firmly believe in combining therapeutic approaches to better meet the needs and goals of my clients at a pace most comfortable to them.
It takes courage to reach out and ask for support. I am determined to provide my clients with a fun, safe, and judgment-free environment with endless opportunities for growth and healing. Life can be complicated, getting support shouldn't be. I look forward to working with you!
