Tara Johnson

RESIDENT IN COUNSELING

Therapist

Hello! My name is Tara Johnson, Resident in Counseling, and I am a graduate of Walden University with my Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling with a minor in Forensic Counseling.  In my educational and clinical journey, I have learned a variety of methods and techniques, but have found the Cognitive-Behavioral approach to be of great assistance during the therapeutic process. However, I am also aware that everyone is unique thereby requiring the addition of other therapies as warranted to my “mental health toolbox”. All theories incorporate an understanding of the need to change one’s approach to a situation even if the situation continues to exist.

Oftentimes, one’s reaction to a situation is more of a hindrance to change and growth than the situation itself; therefore, it is important to understand that the effort made while attending therapy will have a significant impact on the overall success of the therapeutic process.

Whether you have attended counseling before or if this is your first endeavor, you will find my style to be relaxed and conversational; so, ease your mind and take that first step to emotional wellness and mental stability. However, this is not to imply that counseling will  not be challenging at times! The change and growth we desire in our lives and relationships can be difficult to achieve as well as maintain unless we actively work together to establish goals and create a “virtual roadmap” to assist you in not only achieving but maintaining your desired goals.

The secret to health for both mind and body is neither to mourn the past nor worry about the future but live the present moment wisely and earnestly!
