Claudia Bracey

RESIDENT IN COUNSELING

Therapist

Hello! My name is Claudia Bracey. I completed my Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Spanish at Virginia Tech and my Masters of Science degree in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from VCU. I am currently awaiting approval toward becoming a Resident-in-Counseling working towards licensure in the state of Virginia.

I have experience working with adults struggling with substance use, anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, communication difficulties, low self-esteem, multicultural issues, and interpersonal relationship conflict. In addition, I have a background in facilitating family therapy, couples counseling, and group processes. I am currently working towards specializing in women’s health counseling, perinatal counseling, and other specific women’s issues.

I use a range of therapeutic theories such as cognitive behavioral therapy, unconditional positive regard, person-centered therapy, strengths-based approach, and motivational interviewing. I do not believe in “one technique fits all” for therapy.

I am extremely passionate about eliminating the societal stigma around mental health and therapy. I am dedicated to creating a comfortable and empathetic space for my clients to process their personal stories and struggles. I believe it is vital to process lived experiences through a culturally sensitive lens, and building a trusting relationship with clients is a top priority for my therapeutic process.
