Rachel Paz

LPC

Therapist

Hello! My name is Rachel Paz (she/her) and I’m excited to take the next steps with you in beginning or continuing your mental health journey. Some background information on me, so you know I’m worth taking a chance on. I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Randolph-Macon College and then went on to complete my Master of Science in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling at Virginia Commonwealth University. I'm a Licensed Profressional Counselor. Most of my experience comes from working with the community in the Richmond Public School system as well as in an inpatient hospital setting. My experience thus far is working with adolescent and young adults.

I have worked with people struggling on all different paths of mental health. Including processing trauma, coping with anxiety, depression, ADHD-related symptoms; and learning how to be more compassionate with ourselves. I have found success in utilizing different therapeutic approaches to tackle these difficulties. Which includes, but is not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Client Centered Therapy. I continue to learn with new cutting-edge research being done to find the approach that will best fit you.

As a therapist, I pride myself on having the understanding that there is no playbook for our mental health, the journey begins wherever you are, and I will meet you there. We will work together to better understand your mental health and how to manage that aspect of who you are in your day-to-day life. I will create a warm, compassionate, and safe space for our conversations and aid you in the opportunities we will have with each other for growth and healing.

It is so normal to feel scared or anxious when beginning this journey in therapy, but we will carry on side by side to tackle life’s difficulties. You took your first step in just seeking out a therapist, so we already have something to celebrate!
