Hello! My name is Aditi Das and I am an Indian-American student working towards receiving my Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) licensure. I received my Bachelors of Science in Psychology with a concentration in Addiction Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2022 and I am currently beginning my second year in VCU’s Rehabilitation and Clinical Mental Health Master’s program. My goal is to help individuals improve their mental well-being, feel secure within themselves, and learn the skills needed to navigate their daily lives with confidence.
During my two year gap period, I received my QMHP-T and worked as an Intensive In-Home Clinician for clients anywhere from six to seventeen. I worked with multiple different individuals within their homes on avoiding hospitalization or residential treatment and feeling safe and secure within the home. The main struggles I worked on with my clients were: anxiety; depression; loneliness; anger and reactivity; eating and body-image issues, and difficulties within the home. Through this, I found my love for working with adolescents and a piqued interest in furthering my work with adults.
The therapeutic approaches I choose to integrate consist of: Client-Centered; Motivational Interviewing (MI); Strengths-Based, and Solution-Focused approaches. As an intern, I believe that the client is the only one truly able to make the change towards the life they are working towards, however, they may simply need a stronger support system to get there. I strive to create a safe and comfortable space where individuals are able to feel recognized and understood. I aim to do this through connecting them with their background-- both emotionally and culturally.
