Grief & Loss Counseling

Navigating Loss with Compassion & Care

Grief is a deeply personal and often overwhelming journey. Whether a loved one has died, you’ve experienced a major life change, or are facing the anticipatory grief of a terminal illness, you don’t have to walk this path alone.

At our practice, we offer a warm, non‑judgmental space—both in-person and via telehealth—to support you as you process your loss, begin healing, and find new ways to engage with life. We meet you where you are, honoring your pace, needs and unique way of grieving.

What Is Grief Counseling?

Grief counseling is a supportive, collaborative space to help you:

  • Understand and process your emotional responses in whatever form they take —grief can feel messy and confusing.

  • Receive validation and psychoeducation—helping you understand that grief is deeply personal, non-linear, and a normal response to death and loss, even when it feels anything but.

  • Feel seen and heard—with a compassionate clinician who holds space for your grief without judgment or pressure to “move on.”

  • Engage in grief work—processing emotions, adapting to a changed reality, and gradually expanding your life around the loss.

  • Begin to rebuild—honoring your loss while making space for healing, growth, and, if and when you're ready, personal meaning and reconnection.

Healing looks different for everyone. Counseling provides structure and support to help you move at your own pace, with the guidance of a trained clinician.

Who Might Benefit?

Grief counseling can be especially helpful for:

  • Individuals who feel overwhelmed, emotionally stuck, or unsure how to begin processing their loss

  • Those who feel stuck or stagnant in their grief

  • People who want someone to simply witness their grief, offering empathy without pressure to “move on”

  • Clients facing anticipatory grief due to a terminal or life-threatening illness in themselves or a loved one

  • Families with differing grief responses—acknowledging that each person copes in their own way and may need unique support

  • Those seeking to explore identity, meaning, and reconnection in the wake of significant change

  • Clients navigating traumatic loss—such as suicide, homicide, child loss, or sudden accidents

  • Couples grieving the death of a child, including adult children

  • Children (ages 7+) and teens experiencing loss in age-appropriate, creative ways

  • Children and teens in the foster care system, experiencing loss of connection, identity, or family

Grief doesn’t disappear, but life can grow around it—we offer compassionate support and guidance, walking beside you as you take meaningful steps toward healing, no matter where you are in your journey.

How We Support You

  • Individual Counseling: One-on-one sessions focused on where you are in your grief—offering emotional support, coping tools, and space to gradually adapt to your loss.

  • Support for Traumatic or Stagnant Grief: If your grief feels heavy, traumatic, or “stuck,” we provide tools to help you move through it—at your own pace—with evidence-based support.

  • Spiritual & Meaning-Making Support: When you’re ready, and only if it feels right, we help you explore how to create meaning or carry the memory of your loved one forward.

  • Support Groups: Connect with others in shared grief through guided small groups:

Possible future groups may include:

  • Widow, Widower & Partner Loss Group

  • Suicide Loss Group

Additional groups may form based on interest.

We use a personalized approach, meeting you where you are and honoring your way of grieving.
