Private Pay &
Self-Pay Services

More Privacy. More Flexibility. Care Designed Around You.

At Therapeutic Counseling & Consulting, we understand that using insurance is not always the right choice for every person or every type of care.

Our self-pay services provide an alternative for individuals, couples, and families who want greater privacy, flexibility, and choice in their mental health care. With self-pay, your treatment can be guided by your needs and goals rather than the limitations or requirements of an insurance plan.

Whether privacy is especially important to you, you prefer not to involve your insurance company in your care, or you are seeking a service that insurance does not typically cover, TC&C offers self-pay options centered around hope, healing, and human connection.

Who is Self-Pay For?

Self-pay is available to anyone who prefers to receive services without billing their health insurance. It may be particularly valuable for:

Healthcare Professionals

Physicians, nurses, therapists, mental health professionals, and other healthcare providers may appreciate an additional level of privacy when seeking care for themselves.

Government Professionals

Individuals working in local, state, or federal government may choose self-pay when discretion and privacy are important considerations.

Family With Pet
Military Members & Veterans

Service members and veterans may prefer greater choice and flexibility in selecting their provider and determining the direction of their care.

First Responders

Law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical professionals, dispatchers, and other first responders may benefit from having a confidential space to address the unique demands of their work and personal lives.

Executives, Business Owners & Professionals

Leaders and professionals carrying significant responsibility may value having a private space where they can step outside of their professional role and focus on their own well-being without involving their health insurance.

Individuals Who Value Privacy

You do not have to hold a particular profession to choose self-pay. Some clients simply prefer to keep their mental health care separate from their health insurance.

Self-pay can also provide access to services that may not be covered—or may be restricted—by insurance, including EMDR intensives, extended individual therapy sessions, extended couples or family sessions, certain consultation or specialized services, and other individualized treatment options that may fall outside traditional insurance benefits.

Executive & Professional Privacy

A Private Space for People Who Carry a Great Deal of Responsibility

Professionals are often expected to lead, make difficult decisions, care for others, manage crises, and remain composed regardless of what may be happening personally.

At TC&C, we recognize that seeking support can feel different when you are a healthcare professional, executive, business owner, government employee, military member, first responder, mental health professional, or other individual working in a highly visible or sensitive role.

Self-pay provides an option for receiving mental health services without TC&C routinely submitting claims, diagnoses, or treatment information to your health insurance company for reimbursement.

For professionals who place a high value on discretion, this separation from insurance billing may provide an additional level of privacy and greater control over how their care is structured.

Your Professional Role Does Not Have to Enter the Therapy Room

You may spend much of your life being the person others depend on. Therapy provides an opportunity to step outside of that responsibility.

You do not have to be the leader, clinician, responder, decision-maker, caregiver, or person who has everything figured out.

At TC&C, you can simply be human.

Our goal is to provide a professional, respectful, and compassionate environment where you can address stress, relationships, trauma, burnout, major life transitions, identity, leadership pressures, or other concerns without having to perform your professional role.

Clinical records are maintained in accordance with applicable professional, ethical, and legal requirements, and standard limits to confidentiality continue to apply.

Why Choose Self-Pay?

Greater Privacy

When you choose self-pay, TC&C does not submit claims for those services to your health insurance company. This allows your care to remain outside of the insurance billing process and reduces the amount of information routinely shared with a third-party payer.

Your clinical records are still maintained in accordance with applicable professional, legal, and healthcare record requirements.

Fewer Insurance Barriers

Insurance companies establish requirements related to medical necessity, covered diagnoses, session lengths, eligible services, authorizations, and other aspects of treatment.

With self-pay, there is no insurance company determining whether a service meets its requirements for reimbursement.

More Flexibility in Your Care

Mental health care is not one-size-fits-all.

Self-pay may allow you and your provider greater flexibility to determine the type, frequency, and length of services that best support your goals.

This can be especially helpful when a traditional therapy appointment does not adequately meet the needs of the work you are doing.

Access to Services Insurance May Not Cover

Some therapeutic approaches and service formats do not fit neatly within traditional insurance billing structures.

Self-pay allows TC&C to offer additional options based on clinical appropriateness and provider availability rather than whether an insurance company will reimburse for the service.

You Decide Whether to Involve Your Insurance

Choosing self-pay means you can receive services without TC&C submitting those services to your insurance plan.

A Note About Insurance

TC&C offers both insurance-based and self-pay services. Choosing self-pay is voluntary.

If you choose self-pay for a service, TC&C will not submit that service to your insurance company for payment. Certain services may not be eligible for insurance reimbursement even if you independently submit documentation to your plan.

Please speak with our team if you have questions about which payment option may be appropriate for the services you are seeking.

Is Self-Pay Right for You?

Self-pay may be worth considering if you:

  • Prefer not to submit your mental health services to insurance

  • Want greater privacy surrounding your care

  • Want greater flexibility in how your treatment is structured

  • Need longer or more flexible sessions

  • Are interested in EMDR intensives or another service not typically covered by insurance

  • Have insurance but prefer not to use it for mental health services

  • Hold a professional or highly visible role where discretion is particularly important to you

You do not have to make this decision on your own. Our team can help you understand the differences between using insurance and choosing self-pay so you can determine which option best fits your needs.

Care That Fits Your Life—Not Just an Insurance Benefit

At Therapeutic Counseling & Consulting, we believe people should have meaningful choices in how they access mental health care.

Our self-pay services offer another pathway to receiving thoughtful, individualized support while maintaining greater privacy, flexibility, and autonomy.
